Make sure you have access to detailed log files for your site so you can see how visitors use your site. Use this information to constantly improve your site
Get your site known and gain respect by posting on newsgroups and message boards. Help people out with answers to questions and always reply with a signature (name, company name, description, contact details)
Send out a newsletter (ask permission from the recipient before you send it out)
Make your site a good source for information and links – get people to bookmark it
Add your website to all your stationery including letterheads, envelopes, business cards, order forms, invoices and receipts
Update your Yellow Pages advert to include your website address
Make sure your staff know about the site and recommend it to customers
